Ukraine approves rules for transportation of animals in buses for the first time
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the rules for the transportation of animals in intercity and international bus service developed by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine together with UAnimals. These are amendments to CMU Resolution No. 176, according to the Ministry of Development.
Until now, there was no unified approach - everything depended on the driver's mood or the carrier's policy.
Now the rules are clear, namely:
- Small animals (up to 10 kg) travel in containers or bags with an absorbent bottom. They can sit in the arms of the owner or owners, under the seats, or in a separate seat (for this you need to buy another ticket).
- Dogs of medium or large size (10-45 kg) travel on the floor, with a bed, wearing a muzzle. You also need to buy a seat next to it.
- Dogs over 45 kg — according to the individual rules of the carrier, in specially equipped vehicles.
- Guide dogs — free of charge, next to the people they accompany.
- All animals must have a veterinary passport.
«Not long ago, to transport even an average dog, you had to do something almost impossible - get the consent of all passengers, convince the driver, explain why it was important. Every trip was a challenge. Now the situation has changed - the rules are clear, unified, and fair. They do not discriminate against animals and allow you to plan a trip without unnecessary stress. We are sincerely glad that big changes in transportation affect even our little friends», — said Alyona Veklich, director of MAPA.
