She Drives project participants continue to learn about passenger transportation
The future bus drivers were given a tour of Kyiv Central Bus Station. The participants saw how the Smart Bus Station system works: they saw how buses arrive and depart, how the control room and ticket offices work. In addition, the participants saw how the bus harbor has been transformed from a dilapidated legacy into a full-fledged passenger transport hub with all the amenities for passengers and carriers.
This is another important step towards understanding the full chain of passenger transportation - from ticketing to bus departure.
The bus station was visited by Serhiy Derkach, Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, and the Ukrpass team. It is also worth noting that among the project participants was a woman who successfully passed the exam and received a driver's license of the appropriate category. We would like to congratulate her on obtaining a cool profession.
The She Drives pilot project is being implemented by the NGO “Foundation for Institutional Development” at the initiative of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine in partnership with UN Women and with financial support from Sweden, and aims to train 100 women to drive buses and give them a chance to change their profession.”
Thank you for the meeting and let's change the transportation sector together.
