A new checkpoint will appear on the border between Ukraine and Moldova
Ukraine and Moldova have agreed to open a new international road border crossing on their shared border. It will operate around the clock and serve both passenger and freight traffic.
This was announced by Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko on his Telegram channel.
"Today, we worked with a government delegation from the Republic of Moldova led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu... We signed an important protocol concerning the movement of people and goods across our shared border. This is an addition to the 1997 Agreement on border crossing points. We are officially adding another checkpoint to the list of international road checkpoints — with round-the-clock operation for passenger and freight traffic," Ihor Klymenko said.
According to him, the Protocol creates the legal basis for opening the checkpoint and allows for the necessary funding to be included in Ukraine's state budget. Work on the checkpoint has already begun.
The opening of the new checkpoint will have practical results:
• Increased freight transport capacity;
• More efficient exports/imports through Moldova and Romania;
• Strengthening of the “Solidarity Routes”;
• Reduced load on other checkpoints.
