Ministry of Development launches project to review bus stations from the List to check the quality of passenger services

The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine is developing a pilot project to survey bus stations included in the List of Bus Stations.

The aim of the project is to determine their actual technical condition, assess passenger service conditions, including the level of accessibility of transport infrastructure and facilities for persons with disabilities and other low-mobility groups, and analyze the compliance of the services provided with the requirements of current legislation. In simple terms, the Ministry of Development wants the List of Bus Stations to include bus stations that provide a basic minimum set of services for passengers.

It is proposed that bus stations be inspected by representatives of Ukrtransbezpeka and local authorities. In addition, the inspection of bus stations will be video recorded.

Bus stations will be checked for the presence of:

  • Ticket offices;
  • General information, including information that must be accessible to people with visual impairments;
  • Luggage storage rooms;
  • Mother and child rooms;
  • Number of platforms for bus arrivals/departures (there must be at least 3);
  • Covered areas for passengers in the bus boarding/alighting area;
  • Bus parking area;
  • Public toilets, including for people with reduced mobility;
  • Option to purchase tickets using cashless payment;
  • First aid station or first aid kit;
  • Waiting room;
  • Layout of platforms and buildings;
  • Location of visual information for passengers;
  • Bus station operating hours and schedule;
  • Evacuation plan;
  • Compliance of the bus station building and territory with DBN requirements.

It should be noted that notifications about the inspection will be sent to bus station owners in advance (5 days prior).
